Editorial Policy – Majestic Trails Nepal

Every trek guide, blog and trip page on the Majestic Trails Nepal website is written from first-hand trail experience, researched with our licensed guides and teahouse owners, checked against official sources, and fact-checked by a Government of Nepal licensed trekking guide before it is published. If anything turns out to be wrong or out of date, we correct it within 48 hours of being told.

Trekkers use our guides to make real decisions about altitude, permits, weather, safety and money. This page explains exactly who writes our content, how we check it, how we fix mistakes, and what we will never do.

1. Who We Are

Majestic Trails Nepal is a government-registered trekking and tour company based in Thamel, Kathmandu, founded in 2026 by licensed trekking guide Bibek Dhamala. We organise treks, peak climbs and tours across Nepal, and we publish guides to help travellers plan them honestly and safely.

  • Company: Majestic Trails Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
  • Registration: Office of the Company Registrar, Nepal, Reg. No. 396834/83/84
  • Founder: Bibek Dhamala, Government of Nepal Trekking Guide Licence No. 19911
  • Office: Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal

2. Ownership and Funding

Majestic Trails Nepal is an independent, Nepal-based company. It is not owned by or connected to any overseas tour operator, booking platform, gear brand or lodge.

Our website and our guides are funded by one thing: travellers booking treks and tours with us. We do not run advertising, we do not publish sponsored articles, and we do not earn affiliate commission from links on our website. That means no outside company can pay to change what we write.

3. Who Writes and Reviews Our Content

Every article on our website is written by a named person and fact-checked by a licensed trekking guide before it is published.

When Bibek writes an article himself, he is named as the author, and the article is checked against our guides' and official sources in the same way.

4. The Experience Behind Our Guides

Our content is written by people who walk Nepal's trails, not by people who only read about them. The experience behind every guide comes from this team.

5. How We Research Every Guide

Every Majestic Trails Nepal guide is built from first-hand trail knowledge and goes through the same five steps before it is published. We never copy content from other websites.

  1. Start from the trail. The article begins with what our guides know from walking the route many times, and from our writer's own treks where she has walked it.
  2. Interview the guide who knows it best. Our writer asks the licensed guide who specialises in that region about walking hours, steep sections, acclimatisation stops, weather, lodges and common mistakes.
  3. Ask the teahouse owners. For lodges, food, prices, Wi-Fi, charging and seasonal opening, we ask the people who run the teahouses, because these details change faster than any guidebook.
  4. Check official sources. Permits, fees, visas and rules are checked with the organisations that set them.
  5. Fact-check and approve. Bibek Dhamala checks every altitude, walking time, permit rule and safety statement, and only then approves the article for publishing.

6. The Sources We Use

When a fact comes from outside our own team, we go to the organisation responsible for it and link to it where we can.

TopicWhere we check it
Trekking permits and conservation area feesNepal Tourism Board; Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation; conservation area offices such as ACAP and MCAP
Restricted area permits and visasDepartment of Immigration, Nepal
Peak climbing permitsNepal Mountaineering Association
Local municipality feesThe rural municipality that collects them, such as Khumbu Pasang Lhamu
Mountain and pass heightsOfficial survey figures, such as Everest's 8,848.86m from the 2020 Nepal–China survey
Altitude sickness and healthPublished mountain medicine guidance, plus our guides' first aid and wilderness medicine training
Lodges, food and trail conditionsOur guides and teahouse owners, reported from the trail each season

7. Our Fact-Checking Policy

No article is published until a licensed trekking guide has checked it. Our fact-checker reviews every article against these questions.

  • Is every altitude given in both metres and feet, and does it match our guides' figures and official survey sources?
  • Are walking times realistic for an average trekker, not a fast guide?
  • Is every permit, fee and rule current, and does it show the date it was checked?
  • Is every safety statement accurate and responsible?
  • Is every claim about Majestic Trails Nepal true and provable?

When sources disagree and we cannot confirm which is right, we say so in the article rather than pick one and present it as certain.

8. How We Handle Altitudes, Prices and Rules

These three things change most often, or are reported differently by different sources, so we follow fixed rules for them.

  • Altitudes: every height is given in metres and feet. Where official sources disagree (for example, Larke Pass is listed as 5,106m, 5,160m and 5,215m in different places), we explain the difference and use the figure our guides and survey sources support.
  • Prices and permit fees: every fee shows the date it was checked. We recheck all permit fees before each trekking season, in March and September.
  • Rules: when a rule is new, disputed or not always enforced (such as the 2023 trekking guide requirement, which applies differently in different regions), we explain exactly how it works on the ground.

9. Honest About the Hard Parts

We believe our guests deserve honest information about difficulties, weather, accommodation, altitude, walking hours and the realities of travelling in the mountains. Our guides describe the steep climbs, cold nights, shared toilets and long days exactly as they are.

We never claim records we cannot prove, such as "zero incidents" or "100% success rates". When something has gone wrong on our treks, such as a guest needing a helicopter rescue for altitude sickness, we are open about it and explain how we handled it.

Our health and altitude information is general guidance for trekkers, not medical advice. Please speak to your own doctor before any high-altitude trek, especially about medicines such as Diamox.

10. Corrections Policy

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and openly. Mistakes reported to us are checked with our guides and corrected within 48 hours.

How to report an error

Send us the page link and what you think is wrong by any of these routes:

  • WhatsApp: +977 9700937981
  • Email: info@majestictrailsnepal.com
  • In person: our office in Thamel, Kathmandu

What happens next

The steps below show how every reported error is handled.

  1. We reply to let you know we have received it.
  2. Our fact-checker checks it with the guide who knows that route, and with official sources where needed.
  3. If it is wrong, we correct the article within 48 hours and update its "Last updated" date.
  4. If the correction changes something important, such as a permit fee, a rule, an altitude or safety advice, we add a short dated correction note at the end of the article explaining what changed.
  5. If it turns out not to be an error, we reply and explain why.

11. How Often We Update Our Guides

Trekking information in Nepal goes out of date quickly, so we update our guides on a regular schedule as well as whenever something changes. The table below shows when each type of content is reviewed.

ContentWhen we review it
Permit fees and rulesBefore each trekking season (March and September), and whenever a change is announced
Trail conditions, lodges and roadsAfter each season, using reports from our guides
Trip prices and itinerariesWhenever our prices or itineraries change
Altitudes and route factsWhen a guide reports a difference or an official figure changes
All other articlesAt least once a year

Every article shows a "Last updated" date, and we only change that date when we have actually reviewed and updated the content.

12. How We Use AI Tools

We use AI writing tools to help us work faster, but people decide and check every fact. AI may help us organise research notes, draft outlines and first versions, and check spelling, grammar and clarity.

AI never decides the facts. Every altitude, price, rule, story and recommendation comes from our guides, teahouse owners or official sources. Every article is read, edited and fact-checked by Bibek Dhamala before it is published, and a named person is responsible for every page.

13. Ethics and Independence

Majestic Trails Nepal is a trekking company, and our articles sometimes recommend our own treks. These are the rules we follow so that you can trust what we write.

  • We say when we mention our own trips. Links to our treks are clearly our own, and we never present them as independent reviews.
  • We tell you when a trek is wrong for you. If a trek is too hard, too expensive, or the wrong season for you, we say so, even if we sell it.
  • No paid mentions. We do not accept money, free stays or gifts from lodges, gear brands, airlines or other companies in exchange for being mentioned.
  • No affiliate links. We do not earn commission from any link on our website.
  • No copying. We do not copy text from other trekking websites. When we learn from another source, we check it ourselves and write it in our own words.
  • No false claims. We do not claim experience, awards, records, or numbers we cannot prove.
  • Respect for people and places. We write about local communities, porters and sacred sites with respect, and we ask permission before publishing photos of people.

14. Reviews and Testimonials

We only publish real reviews from real guests. We never write, edit, buy or invent reviews, and where possible we link each review to its original source, such as Google or TripAdvisor, so you can check it yourself.

15. Photos and Media

Every photo on the Majestic Trails Nepal website is our own, taken by our guides, our team or our guests on our treks, and used with permission. We do not use stock photos to represent our treks, our team or our guests, so what you see is what our trekkers actually experienced.

16. Feedback and Complaints

We welcome feedback on any article, whether you think something is wrong, unclear or missing. Send it to info@majestictrailsnepal.com or on WhatsApp at +977 9700937981. Bibek Dhamala reads every message about our content personally, and if you are not happy with our reply, you can ask him to review it again directly.
